So today we traveled to UCSF for our very first fill with Dr. Hoffman. Since our older daughter Lily didn't have school we made it a day trip and spent the first part of the day at the Aquarium and we hung out at Pier 39. Because we usually have to wait to see the doc he told us to put the Emla cream on (the cream numbs the ports where they inject the needle) when we arrived at his office. The cream should be on for 30min-1 hr. Well of course this time the doc took us right in so the cream had only been on for 15 min or so. When we went into the room Charlie was fussing because I had gobbed on the Emla cream and then covered each port with Glad Press-N-Seal to keep it on there. Charlie kept trying to pull the Press-N-Seal off so he was mad at me that I wasn't letting him. The doc came and Charlie calmed down. I sat in a chair and held him. I was told we might need to hold him down but the doc put in the first needle and Charlie didn't even flinch. He just sat there very still and let him fill it. And he did this for all three expanders. He never cried or even let out a peep. He was perfect. The doctor and I were both amazed. He put 30cc's into each of the back ones and 40cc's in the front one. Here are some pics:
